A top ranked Flyweight bout between Askar Askarov and Alex Perez has just been booked, first reported by Combat Sports Insider.
Askar Askarov (14-0-1) has gone unbeaten through four UFC fights, with three decisions wins and a draw opposite current champion Brandon Moreno. The Russian Paralympic athlete is a phenom on the mat with expert scrambling and is looking to make a claim for a title shot following a win over Joseph Benavidez. He is ranked #2 at 125 pounds.
Alex Perez (24-6) has not seen competition since November of 2020, where he was submitted in a title fight by Deiveson Figueiredo. Prior to that, Perez was on a four fight tear, capped off with a leg kick TKO over Jussier Formiga. Perez is ranked #4 in the division.
