Makhachev vs. Moises Booked for July 17th

We have had no shortage of fights announcements today, and the hits keep coming!

Islam Makhachev will fight Thiago Moises in a Lightweight contest on July 17th, as first reported by Brett Okamoto. This will take place on a currently untitled UFC Fight Night card.

Islam Makhachev (19-1) moved into the #10 spot in the Lightweight rankings following a submission over Drew Dober, and is now tied with Paul Felder in the rankings. Islam is the cousin of Khabib and has a similar dominance when wrestling, but has slicker striking as well. He has struggled to find opponents, as few want to take a risky bout against the Dagestani.

Unranked Thiago Moises (15-4) came into the UFC from the Contender Series, and went 1-2 in his first three bouts, all decisions. He is perfect since, submitting Michael Johnson and beating Alexander Hernandez and Bobby Green in decisions. He has solid grappling and a good output on the feet, but is certainly the best when attacking on the mat.

It is certainly disappointing that Makhachev is still unable to get a ranked opponent, but maybe this is the fight to surge him towards contention. This Fight Night card is quickly shaping up, as it will also feature the return of Miesha Tate!
