Miesha Tate Returns from Retirement

Former Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate has been slotted for a return fight in the UFC.

Tate retired following a decision defeat to Raquel Pennington back in 2016, just one fight removed from losing her title to Amanda Nunes. She has competed against top names in the division like Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, and Nunes.

Tate is still just 34 years old and should still be in her athletic prime by MMA standards, but she has received an optimal matchup for her return. “Cupcake” is currently booked to fight Marion Reneau at a UFC event on July 17th.

Reneau, who was just seen losing a decision last weekend, is now on a four-fight skid, dropping decisions to top challengers. At 43, Reneau is one of the oldest fighters on the UFC roster and will have her back against the wall in this bout.

With an almost four-year hiatus between her Kast bout and her scheduled meeting with Reneau, we will see if Tate has suffered ring rust in her time away or if she can still compete with the best of the best in the division she used to reign.
