Assuncao Out! Raulian Paiva Steps In Against Kyler Phillips on July 24th

Raphael Assuncao has been forced out of his scheduled fight with Kyler Phillips, first reported by Marcelo Barone.

Replacing Assuncao will be long time Flyweight Raulian Paiva, stepping up for the short-notice appearance.

Kyler Phillips (9-1) scored a sub-minute finish on the Contender Series, but did not receive a contract. Instead, he was given a split on the Ultimate Fighter Season 27, but he was defeated by eventual season winner Brad Katona. Phillips made his way to the UFC in 2020, however, and has earned three straight wins, last winning a decision over Song Yadong. Phillips is ranked at #14 in the Bantamweight division.

A short notice appearance resulted in the UFC debut of Raulian Paiva in 2019, and he received a rude welcome with two losses. He is 2-0 since, last defeating Zhalgas Zhumagulov almost a year ago.

This fight is set to go down in roughly a month’s time, and will likely adorn the main card of this banger Fight Night.
