Eddie Alvarez Set to Return After DQ Loss at ONE on TNT 4

ONE Championship has been on a roll with their TNT series, hosting four stacked cards in April.

The first event saw massive controversy as Eddie Alvarez was disqualified in his bout opposite Iuri Lapicus due to illegal strikes to the back of the head.

Given that Alvarez took little to no damage in the dominant performance prior to the DQ, many questioned whether he would be able to make a quick return to the cage.

ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed to the South China Morning Post that he would indeed fight again in short order at the upcoming ONE on TNT 4 card, set to take place on April 28th.

As for his opponent, Chatri had this to say:

“He’s [Alvarez] gonna fight the No 5-ranked lightweight contender because Marat Gafurov is No. 5 and he faces Ok Rae-yoon, and the winner of that match will take on Eddie Alvarez, so Eddie still has a shot at breaking into the top five rankings.”

Gafurov and Ok are set to throw down this upcoming Wednesday at ONE on TNT 3, with the winner to be slated against Alvarez.

Keep your fingers crossed that there is no more controversy for Alvarez, who was trying to make a run at the Lightweight title before the Lapicus DQ.
