ONE Championship had a momentous event for their debut on the TNT network, with the Flyweight belt on the line.

Tragedy struck the co-main event, where Eddie Alvarez and Iuri Lapicus were set to fight in one of the most awaited fights of the evening.

Alvarez was disqualified following repeated blows to the back of the head in the opening round, though not without controversy.

The commentary booth and fans alike went back and forth on whether the red card should have been thrown. Both whether the punches were indeed illegal as well as the intent of them was debated, as Eddie was immensely apologetic following the result. On top of that, Lapicus was turning away from the punches and the blows came in a gray area, to say the least.
