Amanda Nunes is heading back down in weight to defend her UFC bantamweight championship against Julianna Pena at UFC 265.
Dana White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that there is no official date, but the current target is August 7th.
Pena (10-4), has only two losses in the UFC, one to Valentina Shevchenko and one to Germaine de Randamie.
She has been campaigning for a title match since her last win at UFC 257 over Sara McMann in January. She has even gone so far as to accuse Nunes of ducking the fight.
Nunes (21-4), widely considered the women’s GOAT, will be looking for her first bantamweight title defense since 2019. Before the announcement, Nunes had this to say on social media, “Let’s go to the next.”
