Schmid vs. Reug Reug Set Following COVID-19 Cancellations

The ONE on TNT 1 card set to take place tomorrow (April 7th in the US) got shaken up a little barely 24 hours prior to start time.

Both Rade Opacic and Mehdi Barghi were removed from the card due to “health and safety concerns”, assumed to be related to COVID-19.

Opacic was set to face Patrick Schmid in a kickboxing bout, while Barghi was going to be taking on “Reug Reug”, also known as Oumar Kane.

Schmid and Kane will now be fighting each other one the lead card in a Heavyweight (265 lbs.) MMA bout.

This will be Schmid’s MMA debut, but he has years of experience within combat sports, competing in K-1 kickboxing as well as Muay Thai.

Reug Reug has been making headlines since his MMA debut. At just 2-0, Kane is a Senegalese wrestling champion who has entertained in two brutal maulings since entering the sport, his most recent coming in January under the ONE banner.

Though the card has now been cut down to just five fights, it is needless to say we are all grateful to keep Reug Reug on the card.
