Aljamain Sterling to Rematch Petr Yan at UFC 267

The upper echelon of the Bantamweight division got thrown into chaos back in March, when Aljamain Sterling was awarded the title at UFC 259 following an illegal knee from Petr Yan.

Now six months removed from the foul blow, the rematch has finally been booked. The pair will once again face off at UFC 267, per Ray Longo.

Aljamain Sterling (20-3) went on a five-fight win streak including two submissions to bring himself into his first title fight. The illegal knee Yan landed awarded him the title after a fairly one-sided beating from Yan. Fighting out of Serra-Longo, Sterling has a high-level wrestling pedigree as well as a high volume striking attack.

Petr Yan (15-2) tore through the UFC’s Bantamweight division, claiming six straight wins along with three knockouts before being put in a title fight opposite Jose Aldo. Yan finished the former Featherweight kingpin in the fifth round to claim gold.

The UFC 267 card will go down on October 30th, currently set to be headlined by the Light Heavyweight title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira.
