A top ranked Featherweight bout between Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze will go down on August 28th as the five round headliner for the Fight Night card, as confirmed by Brett Okamoto.
Edson Barboza (22-9) moved down to Featherweight in 2020, and dropped a close split decision to Dan Ige upon his arrival. He is much improved since, going 2-0 with a highlight knockout over Shane Burgos in his last outing. Barboza is currently ranked at #9 at 145 pounds.
Though he didn’t make it on the Contender Series, Giga Chikadze found his way to the Octagon through a short notice opportunity. He has dominated since with six straight wins, capped off by a knockout over Cub Swanson in his last bout. The former kickboxer currently occupies the number tenth slot in the rankings.
This fight is a perfect stylistic matchup of strikers who both excel at kicking range, and the fans will sure be in for a treat come Fight Night!
