Paulo Costa has reportedly withdrawn from his bout with Jared Cannonier on August 21st. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto said there was currently no disclosed reason for Costa’s withdrawal, however, they have found a replacement.
None other than Kelvin Gastelum will step in to face Cannonier.
Gastelum is coming off a lopsided five-round main event loss to Robert Whittaker.
Gastelum will have a chance to insert himself right back into championship contention with a victory over Cannonier.
Costa meanwhile has not fought since his loss to current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 253 in September of 2020.
