Kamaru Usman further solidified his status as Welterweight elite by furiously KOing Jorge Masvidal in their rematch.
This improved Usman to 19-1 with 14 UFC wins and four title defenses. He is widely considered the second greatest Welterweight of all time behind Georges St. Pierre.
Dana White has just confirmed that Colby Covington will receive the next title shot against Usman, though a date and venue have not yet been confirmed.
The always controversial Covington is currently 16-2 and holds the #1 ranking in the UFC’s Welterweight division after stopping Tyron Woodley in the fifth round. That is the lone bout on his resume since his original bout against Kamaru Usman.
The pair met previously at UFC 245 in a Fight of the Year contender, where Usman secured a fifth round knockout to provide his first defense.
Expect this matchup to take place towards the end of 2021, likely in November or December.
