Following a dominant showing over Justin Gaethje back at UFC 254, Lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov shocked the MMA world by announcing his retirement. However, UFC president Dana White has been pressuring Khabib for a return.
After meeting with former ZUFFA boss Lorenzo Fertitta earlier this week, Nurmagomedov took to Instagram to call out Dana White, saying “send me location”.
Many thought this ambiguous post was referencing one final return and the long teased attempt at a 30-0 record for Khabib.
Quite the contrary. Dana White took to Twitter on Thursday to state this.
Khabib will likely be removed from the rankings in the coming weeks with some finality to his career.
In terms of the Lightweight title, White broke the news that they are targeting a match between Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira for UFC 262 on May 15th.
Former Bellator champion Michael Chandler recently made his way to the MMA cage, KOing Dan Hooker in the first round at UFC 257. Meanwhile, Oliveira has been on a tear with nine straight victories including eight by stoppage.
