Following the incidents of UFC 259 that saw Petr Yan stripped of his title for an illegal knee, it seems that the Bantamweight division won’t be looking for new contenders until Yan and current champion Aljamain Sterling get their business sorted out.
Luckily for the many faces at 135, this allows some time for a hot contender to emerge.
With two main event bookings on deck for May, they will have their opportunity.
Firstly, former champ TJ Dillashaw will be making his return to the Octagon after popping for EPO way back in January of 2019. He will take on the surging Cory Sandhagen as the main event for a Fight Night card on May 8th.
Following this, heavy hitters Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt will go at it in the five-round slot at a Fight Night on May 22nd.
This sees the #2, 3, and 4 ranked fighters all set to compete with Dillashaw making his re-entry into the weight class, sure to get us a top contender once the dust settles between Sterling and Yan.
