The UFC 266 Pay-Per-View card has gotten more than its fair share of bout announcements today, with a superstar’s return just announced.
Brett Okamoto just announced via Twitter that Valentina Shevchenko will defend her Flyweight crown at UFC 266 opposite Lauren Murphy.
Valentina Shevchenko (21-3) has gone undefeated at Flyweight since moving down after the inception of the weight class, claiming the title and four subsequent defense. Her last fight saw Jessica Andrade knocked out from the crucifix position in the second round, with Shevchenko receiving little resistance.
After a 1-3 stint in the UFC, Lauren Murphy moved down to Flyweight with the twenty-sixth season of the Ultimate Fighter in the hope of brighter pastures. A split decision over Barb Honchak pieced a loss to Sijara Eubanks, though Murphy is perfect since, racking up five straight wins with two stoppages.
This fight will serve as the co-main event to the Featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega in the main event.
