A ranked Lightweight contest has just been booked, as Carlos Diego Ferreira will fight Grant Dawson at an unnamed UFC event on October 2nd. News of this booking was first confirmed by MMAJunkie.com.

Carlos Diego Ferreira (17-4) is coming off a tough defeat to Gregor Gillespie, putting him on a two-fight skid. Prior to that, he was riding six straight wins, with three of those coming by finish.

After a submission on the Contender Series, Grant Dawson (17-1) has been nothing short of dominant in his Octagon career, winning five fights with four finishes. A Glory MMA product, his top control is a powerful weapon to behold and he will get his first opportunity at a ranking here.

This is a terrific scrap between talented grapplers who both hold composed striking in their arsenal. This will serve on the main card of what is likely to be the first Fight Night of October.
