Just hours ago, the UFC Vegas 29 card went down, delivering six finishes and quite a few names for fans to keep their eyes on!
In the main event, veteran slugger Chan Sung Jung, AKA ‘The Korean Zombie’, defeated Dan Ige in a unanimous decision, winning on the judges’ scorecards with control time and a significant strike advantage.
There were numerous other highlights on the card, with the Fight of the Night and both Performance of the Night bonuses being handed out to fighters not featured in the main or co-main events.
The UFC rewards four fighters from each event with a $50,000 bonus. This includes, one Fight of the Night award, awarding $50k to both fighters involved, and two Performance of the Night bonuses for the two most compelling victories (most often finishes).
This week, the Fight of the Night award went to the Bantamweight bout between Marlon Vera and Dvaye Grant, where Vera won out in a decision. Both competitors will receive $50,000.
The two Performance bonuses for this card went to Matt Brown and Seung Woo Choi. Matt Brown secured a second round knockout by flattening Dhiego Lima with a right hook, so this award was pretty ,much in the bag. Similarly, Choi needed just over a minute and a half to knock out Julian Erosa, securing his first stoppage win in the UFC
The Octagon will return next Saturday, June 26th, with another Fight Night card headlined by Heavyweight strikers! Stay tuned to our home page for further news updates and analytical coverage!
