Oscar De La Hoya and Vitor Belfort have agreed to a exhibition boxing match on September 18th, per Mike Coppinger.
The fight will headline a Triller event, the same promotion to air the Jake Paul/Askren boxing match.
De La Hoya, now 48, has not competed in boxing professionally since 2008, where he last lost a decision to Manny Pacquiao. He has teased his return to boxing for some time now.
Vitor Belfort has been a staple of the UFC since its inception, and holds a place as a Hall of Fame. Now split from ONE Championship, Belfort has wanted to make a run at boxing, and was scheduled to fight social media star Mike Holston this Saturday at a Triller event, but the card was postponed following a positive COVID-19 test for Teofimo Lopez. Belfort is now 44.
I expect there will be a fair size discrepancy, with De La Hoya previously fighting at 145 pounds, while Belfort has competed from Middleweight all the way up to Heavyweight.
This two veterans will duke it out on September 18th on Pay-Per-View, so stay tuned to our home page for any upcoming news!
