A top ranked Welterweight contest has been added to the main card of UFC 265, as Vicente Luque will take on Michael Chiesa.
Vicente Luque (20-7-1) is on a three-fight win streak since his Fight of the Night decision loss to Stephen Thompson. All of those wins have come by stoppage, the most recent being a first round submission over former champion Tyron Woodley. Luque is ranked at #5 at 170 pounds, with nine wins in his last ten bouts.
Two straight submissions losses (however controversial) sent Michael Chiesa (17-4) to Welterweight, where he has racked up four straight wins. The last of those was a five round decision over Neil Magny in Chiesa’s first headliner at 170. Ranked at #6, Chiesa is a grappling phenom with blistering top control and a wide array of submissions.
This matchup of top contenders will undoubtedly produce a new threat to the Usman’s Welterweight crown, and may be up for a title shot!
