Adesanya vs. Whittaker II On Deck

Last night, UFC 263 went down with a fantastic show that saw a new champion crowned in the Flyweight division, while Israel Adesanya made his third Middleweight title defense over Marvin Vettori.

Adesanya delivered a striking clinic to the Italian, working him over with leg kicks, high kicks, and quick kickboxing from the outside. Though Vettori was able to wrangle Adesanya to the mat here and there, Izzy displayed vast improvements in his grappling defense, with perfectly timed reversals and submission defense.

Immediately following his victory, Adesanya (21-1) took little time to call out Robert Whittaker (23-5).

The former champion, who Israel knocked out to claim gold, has been on a three-fight win streak, claiming decision victories over Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, and Kelvin Gastelum. Following his win over Gastelum last month, he was offered this fight against Vettori, but was unable to make the quick turnaround.

Nevertheless, it seems their highly anticipated rematch is next on the horizon and with Izzy’s preferred strength of schedule, fans can expect this to go down before the year’s end.
