A top ranked Light Heavyweight contest has just been booked to headline the UFC Fight Night card currently set to take place on September 18th.
Anthony Smith announced on the UFC Live broadcast that himself and Ryan Spann would be fighting in a five-round bout as the Fight Night headliner.
Number six ranked Anthony Smith (35-16) righted a two-fight losing streak by finishing Jimmy Crute by doctor stoppage due to a leg injury inflicted from Smith’s calf kicks. Though just 32, Smith has had over fifty pro bouts and has finished all but two of his wins. He is no stranger to being the man on the marquee, as he has five straight headlining bouts before the Crute fight.
Following a knockout loss to Johnny Walker, Ryan Spann (19-6) righted the ship by flattening Misha Cirkunov, taking just 71 seconds to knock out the talented grappler. Ranked at #11, Spann is 5-1 inside the UFC after coming off the Contender Series, including three finishes. This will be his first fight in a UFC main event.
The only other fight currently scheduled for the card is a Lightweight contest between Dakota Bush and ROngzhu, though we will assuredly see the card shape up in the coming months. Stay tuned to our home page for breaking news and updates!
