Benoit and Lins Removed From UFC Vegas 26, Fights Scrapped

After a fun Fight Night card last weekend, the UFC returns tomorrow to the Apex facility in Las Vegas for UFC Vegas 26, a card stacked with big names and hyped prospects.

Unfortunately, two prelims have been removed from the card, leaving the resulting card with just ten bouts.

Firstly, Philipe Lins was removed from his Heavyweight tilt due to an illness, not even weighing in. His opponent, Ben Rothwell, made weight successfully, but he has also been removed from the card.

The second fight cancellation was much more dramatic. Ryan Benoit tried to make weight several times for his Flyweight bout against Zarrukh Adashev. He needed help merely walking to the scale, and after multiple attempts to make the requisite 126 pound weight limit, he failed, coming in at 129 pounds.

His bout has been called off by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

There was one more slight issue at weigh-ins, as Diego Ferreira came in at 160.5 pounds, a whopping four and a half pounds over the Lightweight limit. He will still fight opposite Gregor Gillespie, who will receive 30% of Ferreira’s purse.

We are less than twenty four hours from start time, and hopefully the card remains intact, knock on wood.
