The past few weeks have had Khamzat Chimaev’s future uncertain, with an Instagram post from Chimaev stating he was retired about a month ago.
After coming down with COVID-19 and suffering multiple scrapped meetings with Leon Edwards, Chimaev had apparently had enough after posting pictures on his Instagram coughing up blood.
UFC president Dana White took little time to deny these claims of retirement, stating that Khamzat was emotional and continued to train despite opposing doctor’s orders.
However, Chimaev took to Twitter yesterday to Tweet this:
Furthermore, Ariel Helwani broke the news today that Khamzat is targeting a July return to the Octagon after an interview with Ali Abdelaziz, Chimaev’s manager. He is hoping for a bout with no. 9-ranked Neil Magny.
Hopefully the rest of Chimaev’s recuperation goes well and we can see “Borz” soon back on the path to superstardom!
