UFC 300

We are here, folks. This Saturday, the UFC brings a massively stacked card to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In the main event, Alex Pereira looks to defend his Light Heavyweight crown against former champ Jamahal Hill, while Yan Xiaonan looks to rip gold away from the dominant Zhang Weili.

In our featured bout, fireworks are guaranteed as Justin Gaethje defends his BMF belt against Max Holloway. In total, twelve former champions adorn the card, with prospects and fan favorites like Bo Nickal, Kayla Harrison, and Diego Lopes also looking to make their mark on this historical card.

Main Card

Alex Pereira (9-2) vs. Jamahal Hill (12-1) (LHW Championship)

To me, this is the closest fight on the card and a worthy main event. Pereira has shown his elite abilities on the feet and will look to punish Hill early, particularly with his brutal leg kick on Hill’s naked stance switches. While Hill has hinted at mixing things up in this bout and shooting for his first UFC takedown, he has the range and striking versatility to keep this match close on the feet, as Pereira is not without his defensive holes. I expect Hill to primarily work out of the southpaw stance to try and somewhat nullify the calf kicks and powerful left hook of the Brazilian, but Pereira will surely look to exploit his naked stance switches and footwork mistakes. Given the quick nature in which Hill accepted the fight (originally pushing for a later date) and the quick turnaround from his Achilles tear, I think Pereira will heavily target the legs and put Hill out before the midway point of the bout.

My Pick: Alex Pereira via Knockout

Zhang Weili (24-3) vs. Yan Xiaonan (17-3) (SW Championship)

This is a tough test for Zhang, as Yan will push the pace on the feet and has the firepower to hurt her as well. However, I think Zhang’s pocket boxing and clinch work will keep this tight on the feet. She has a massive advantage on the mat, where I expect her to use heavy ground and pound for a late finish or dominant decision.

My Pick: Zhang Weili via Decision

Justin Gaethje (25-4) vs. Max Holloway (25-7) (LW BMF Title)

I absolutely love both of these fighters and do not want to see either lose. However, I think this is a rough stylistic matchup for Holloway. His reliance on his reach and range management will be outdone by Gaethje’s surges into the pocket, complemented with the ceaseless and devastating leg kicks. I see Gaethje racking up damage for the first (T)KO loss of Holloway’s career.

My Pick: Justin Gaethje via Knockout

Charles Oliveira (34-9) vs. Arman Tsarukyan (21-3) (LW)

This is my most anticipated bout of the card. Oliveira has never been in a boring fight, while Tsarukyan looks better and better each time out, establishing himself as a real contender despite his youth. Tsarukyan has the wrestling to control where this fight goes, but I see him keeping it primarily on the feet, away from the lethal BJJ of Do Bronx. While Tsarukyan sports a variety of offensive weapons, his chin is often open on the feet and I see Oliveira finding the kill shot, potentially after Tsarukyan finds the target and gets cocky.

My Pick: Charles Oliveira via Knockout

Bo Nickal (5-0) vs. Cody Brundage (10-5) (MW)

My Pick: Bo Nickal via Submission

Prelims

Jiri Prochazka (29-4-1) vs. Aleksander Rakic (14-3) (LHW)

My Pick: Jiri Prochazka via Knockout

Calvin Kattar (23-7) vs. Aljamain Sterling (23-4) (FTW)

My Pick: Calvin Kattar via Knockout

Holly Holm (15-6) vs. Kayla Harrison (16-1) (BW)

My Pick: Kayla Harrison via Knockout

Sodiq Yusuff (13-3) vs. Diego Lopes (23-6) (FTW)

My Pick: Sodiq Yusuff via Decision

Jalin Turner (14-7) vs. Renato Moicano (18-5-1) (LW)

My Pick: Jalin Turner via Knockout

Jessica Andrade (25-12) vs. Marina Rodriguez (17-3-2) (SW)

My Pick: Jessica Andrade via Knockout

Bobby Green (31-15-1) vs. Jim Miller (37-17) (LW)

My Pick: Bobby Green via Decision

Deiveson Figueiredo (22-3-1) vs. Cody Garbrandt (14-5) (BW)

My Pick: Deiveson Figueiredo via Knockout
