The anticipated Lightweight championship bout between Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier has been finalized, as the pair will go at it on the UFC 269 Pay-Per-View card.
Charles Oliveira (31-8) racked up an insane eight fight win streak, finishing all but one win before challenging for gold. He met Michael Chandler for the vacated title in Khabib’s absence and after fighting through a tough first round, knocked Chandler out in the opening seconds of the second round. Oliveira has an elite jiu-jitsu pedigree, with clear improvements in his striking, making him an all-around threat.
After winning the interim title opposite Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier (28-6) was unable to get past Khabib, who submitted him in the third round. He has come back to score three straight victories, including two stoppage wins over Conor McGregor. Poirier has been among the Lightweight elite for years, having bested the likes of Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez, and Dan Hooker.
The two will meet at UFC 269, set to go down on December 11th.
