The biggest Bellator rematch in history took place just an hour ago at Bellator 267, where Michael “Venom” Page rematched Douglas Lima.
Lima scored a highlight reel knockout over Page in their first meeting, but another win streak brought him to this number one contender matchup.
The fight was an extremely close affair, with a fair amount of outrage over the split decision going the way of Page.
The first round saw a tense striking match where Page scored a flash knockdown, though Lima took over in the second half with top control. The second round was largely a point fight, but Page stood out with another quick knockdown, though he failed to capitalize on it. In the third, Page had a slight edge on the feet before Lima grounded him again and rode out the fight from top position.
Many are calling this bout a robbery, but I strongly disagree. While I scored the bout 29-18 for Lima, the match was so close that it could have gone either way.
Next up for Page will likely be a title shot against Yaroslav Amosov, who snatched the belt away from Lima in his last outing.
