Yesterday, MMAFighting.com confirmed that Megan Anderson’s UFC contract expired following her first round submission defeat to Amanda Nunes on Saturday at UFC 259.
This follows the news of the UFC’s Women’s Featherweight division being scrapped, which Anderson broke on her Twitch stream.
Though I will miss seeing Anderson in the Octagon, she will have plenty of options to consider. As the former Invicta champion, she could certainly return there and find success. Bellator also has a promising FTW division with Cris Cyborg at the helm, while the PFL is making strides with the Women’s Lightweight division.
On top of these, Women’s Flyweight competitor Shana Dobson (4-5) has been cut after going 2-4 in the promotion. Men’s Flyweight Jordan Espinosa (15-9) has also been removed from the UFC after a decision defeat to Tim Elliott, his fourth loss in the Octagon.
