Both Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem were removed from the Heavyweight rankings earlier today.
Dos Santos, 37, is coming off four straight knockout defeats over the past two years, but has insisted he plans to continue fighting.
With this announcement on his Instagram, JDS stated that he plans to take some time off and reassess his career but hopes to return to the MMA cage.
Alistair Overeem’s last appearance was a headliner opposite Alexander Volkov, losing via knockout in what was promoted as his last title run. Though he has suffered tough KO losses in recent years, the Dutch MMA veteran is still 4-2 in his last six and will undoubtedly be a Hall of Famer for his work in DREAM, PRIDE, Strikeforce, and the UFC.
