The injury struck us once again, this time eliminating Jared Gooden’s UFC debut, where he was set to take on Dwight Grant (10-2, 2-1 UFC).
On just three days’ notice, Calen Born (7-1) is stepping into the Octagon, making his UFC debut.
Born has all but one of his pro wins coming by finish, with four by way of submission. Fighting out of Shamrock FC, as well as experience in the UFC feeder organization LFA, he has taken on solid competition on the regional scene and is ready for the opportunity to prove himself against premier competition.
He will have a tough draw in Contender Series alum Dwight Grant. “The Body Snatcher” is a power puncher of the highest order, ending seven of his pro victories by (T)KO, five of those coming in the first round. This will be his first appearance in over a year since a split decision win over Alan Jouban at UFC 236.
Now just two days out from the event, Mark Streigl (18-2) has also been removed from his bout with Timur Valiev (16-2) due to currently undisclosed reasons. He has been replaced by Trevin Jones (12-6), fighting out of Guam.
Jones has bounced around between Pacific MMA organizations with somewhat success, scoring six finishes in his pro victories with four by way of submission. Both he and Valiev will be making their debuts.
We have a fun card filled top to boom with prospects, so be sure to check out both the main card and prelims predictions before the fights kick off at 5:30 EDT on Saturday!
