The LFA is back in action this Friday, bringing an eleven-bout fight card to the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, California.
In the main event, rising prospect Daniel Compton takes on LFA veteran Renato Valente, while prospects like Allan Begosso and Adamu Isah return to action.
Main Card
Daniel Compton (8-2) vs. Renato Valente (9-6) (MW)
After a decision win over the previously undefeated Billy Elekana, Daniel Compton picked up a submission over UFC vet Maki Pitolo. He has heavy hands and a developing striking arsenal, but does his best work on the mat, flowing through various submission threats from top control or on his back. Valente has shown his toughness through multiple LFA contests against high-level opposition, bringing solid Muay Thai and solid BJJ from top control, though he can be controlled on his back. I see Valente doing serious damage on the feet and finding a knockout, though the takedown of Compton could be live.
My Pick: Renato Valente via Knockout
Randall Wallace (19-9-1) vs. Wallace Lopes (7-5) (WW)
Randall Wallace is currently on a four-fight win streak including a submission over Octagon veteran Louis Cosce in his last outing. He has a dangerous submission arsenal with solid wrestling to back it up along with a pressure based striking style, though his defense on the feet can falter. Lopes is a powerful Muay Thai striker but is pretty lost when the fight hits the mat, suffering every loss by finish and three by submission. Wallace should have little issue dragging this fight to the mat and getting the finish.
My Pick: Randall Wallace via Submission
Allan Begosso (7-3-1) vs. Cristian Giovannie (4-2) (BW)
After a loss on the Contender Series, Begosso returned to the LFA, losing a decision to current BW champ John Sweeney. Begosso is incredibly explosive and has a variety of offense early on the feet and the mat with heavy hands and razor tight front chokes, hwoever, his offense wanes as the fight goes on. Giovannie has primarily foguht in Combate against debuting opponents, showing a well-rounded attack but primarily looking to work his wrestling and fundamental striking. I think Begosso’s aggression will earn him another quick knockout or a submission off a poor Giovannie takedown attempt.
My Pick: Allan Begosso via Knockout
Eduardo Henrique (10-2) vs. Leandro Soares (10-5-1) (130-lb. Catchweight)
Henrique suffered a decision loss in the LFA debut, but made a strong account for his durability and striking offense, staying competitive late in the fight. Leandro Soares has bounced around promotions and shown off a strong grappling attack with fast transitions, often a step ahead of his opponents on the mat. Henrique should control this on the feet for a clear decision but could get caught if he messes around on the mat.
My Pick: Eduardo Henrique via Decision
Kendra McIntyre (1-0) vs. Alandria Rosales (3-1) (SW)
McIntyre is coming off a debut win in Invicta, showing a well-rounded skillset primarily focused around striking along the cage. Rosales has fought her whole career in the LFA and while her striking is steadily developing, she has fantastic jiu-jitsu and is very difficult to get off the back. I see McIntyre looking to keep this on the feet as Rosales looks to work her submission offense. I think Rosales’ steady improvements and electric ground offense will find her another submission victory.
My Pick: Alandria Rosales via Submission
Uran Satybaldiev (5-1) vs. Gabriel Thimoteo (5-4) (LHW)
Satybaldiev made his way up on the Kyrgyzstani regional scene, suffering a narrow split decision loss in his last outing to a 13-3 Russian. He has won every fight by knockout and pushes forward with aggression, also sporting solid takedown defense. Thimoteo is a BJJ fighter who primarily wins by submission and doesn’t mind pulling guard to get it to the mat, only beating poor opposition. Satybaldiev should deny takedowns with relative ease and score the knockout.
My Pick: Uran Satybaldiev via Knockout
Prelims
Adamu Isah (2-1) vs. Luciano Ramos (8-9) (140-lb. Catchweight)
Isah was a heavily hyped prospect before suffering an upset KO loss i his last outing, but I still think he has the tools to be a star. He has fantastic striking with great range management and striking combinations, also boasting a good frame for the weight class. The LFA is basically giving him a layup here and I would be pretty shocked to see him lose.
My Pick: Adamu Isah via Knockout
Matt Chapman (1-1) vs. Lucas Martino (2-1) (LW)
My Pick: Lucas Martino via Decision
Salvador Osorio (2-1) vs. Aris Arguello (0-0) (LW)
My Pick: Salvador Osorio via Decision
Lorenzo Figueiroa (0-0) vs. Billy Ray Valdez (1-0) (HW)
My Pick: Billy Ray Valdez via Knockout
McKenna Mitchell (0-2) vs. Cristina Brador (0-0) (SW)
My Pick: Cristina Brador via Decision
