Ranking Updates After UFC 269

There was a good amount of shake up in the rankings this week after a highly eventful UFC 269 this past weekend.

In the men’s bantamweight division, Dominick Cruz moves up two spots to number 7, Marlon Vera moves up three spots to number 8 and Marlon Moraes moves up one spot to number 9. Also in the bantamweight division, Pedro Munhoz moves down two spots to number 10, Frankie Edgar moves up two spots to number 11 and Sean O’Malley finally makes his way into the rankings after another dominant knockout. He enters the rankings at number 13.

In the featherweight division, Josh Emmett moves up one spot to number 6 while Arnold Allen falls one spot to number 7 and Giga Chikadze falls one spot to number 8.

In the lightweight division, Justin Gaethje moves up one spot to number 1 and Dustin Poirier falls one spot to number 2.

For the men’s middleweight division, Andre Muniz finally makes his way into the rankings where he comes in at number 13. This forces Chris Weidman down one spot to number 14 and Kevin Holland down one spot to number 15.

In the men’s heavyweights, Tai Tuivasa also makes his debut into the rankings. He enters at the number 11 position. This forces Augusto Sakai down one spot to number 12, Blagoy Ivanov down one spot to number 13, Walt Harris down one spot to number 14 and Sergei Pavlovich down one position to number 15.

In the women’s flyweights, Cynthia Calvillo moves up one position to number 9 and Jessica Eye falls one position to number 10.

The women’s bantamweights saw a big shift this week after Julianna Pena’s shocking upset over Amanda Nunes. She now takes the place as champion which knocks Amanda Nunes down one spot to number 1, Holly Holm down one spot to number 2 and Irene Aldana down one spot to number 3. Also in the women’s bantamweights, Pannie Kianzad moves up one position to number 12 and Karol Rosa moves down one position to number 13.

The only other changes to report are in the pound for pound rankings.

For the men’s pound for pounds, Charles Oliveira moves up three spots to number 5 and Dustin Poirier falls three spots to number 8.

For the women’s pound for pounds, there was a lot more shifting around. Valentina Shevchenko is now the number one pound for pound female fighter. Rose Namajunas moves up one spot to nubmer 2 and Amanda Nunes now falls two spots to number 3. Julianna Pena moves up a whopping 7 spots to number 4 and Zhang Weili falls one spot to number 5. Jessica Andrade also falls one spot to number 6, Holly Holm falls one spot to number 7 and Carla Esparza falls one spot to number 8. A little further down the list, Katlyn Chookagian falls two positions to number 10 and Yan Xiaonon falls one position to number 11.
